How to find the best product for you? We have categorized some of the major airbrush products available based on their intended use. This will allow you to better understand which product is best suited to your needs.
Airbrush
There are several factors to consider in airbrushes including build quality, spray pattern, maintenance, and more. However, the most important aspect of an airbrush is undoubtedly its spray performance. We have sorted our airbrushes into three spray performance categories.
#1 Detail
A detail airbrush is a type of airbrush that is designed specifically for creating fine, detailed lines and textures in artwork.
Detail airbrushes typically have smaller nozzles and thinner needles than other types of airbrushes, which allows for more precise control over the flow of paint or ink. They also often have finer control options for adjusting the spray pattern and air pressure, which is essential when working with small or intricate details.
Artists and illustrators often use detailed airbrushes for creating intricate designs, adding shading and highlights to their work, and for adding fine details such as hair, fur, or texture to their artwork. They are also commonly used in automotive and graphic design work for creating detailed, high-quality finishes.
The NEOECO airbrush NCT-SJ81 is perfect for achieving fine details, thanks to its MAC valve, preset knob, and trigger-sensitive adjustment knob, all of which are designed to provide precise control. For optimal results, it's recommended to use a 0.2mm needle and corresponding nozzle when working on detailed jobs.

#2 Fine
Fine airbrushes are good for makers and creators who paint with fine to medium levels of detail and scale. In general, the size of the nozzle and needle should be 0.2mm or 0.3mm.
The NEOECO airbrush NCT-SJ83 features a quick-remove needle cap, making it effortless to remove the cap and achieve fine patterns.

#3 Wide
An airbrush with a wider spray pattern is designed to cover a larger area of a surface with paint or other materials in a shorter amount of time. This type of airbrush typically has a larger fluid tip and needle than a standard airbrush, which allows for a wider and more even spray pattern.
However, it's important to note that wider spray patterns can also mean a higher risk of overspray or paint splatters, so it's important to use the appropriate safety equipment and techniques when using a wider spray airbrush. Additionally, these airbrushes may require more powerful compressors to provide enough airflow to produce a consistent spray pattern. We recommend using a compressor that can reach 45 psi to power them.
The NEOECO airbrush NCT-116B can be equipped with a 0.8mm auto-centering nozzle, making it highly efficient for large-area painting. The original kit includes 2cc, 5cc, and 13cc cups, and it can also accommodate 60cc cups, further enhancing its suitability for large-scale painting.
NEOECO airbrush kits always come with various nozzle and needle sizes, allowing for easy switching between 'fine' and 'medium' usings.
Compressor
An airbrush compressor is a device that powers an airbrush by compressing air and delivering it through a hose to the airbrush. The airbrush compressor provides a steady and continuous flow of air, allowing the airbrush to spray paint or other media in a controlled and precise manner. The compressor's size and power will depend on the type of airbrushing you plan to do, as well as the type of media you will be using. Airbrush compressors are commonly used in a variety of fields, including art, automotive painting, and makeup artistry.
Currently, NEOECO's desktop pump is mainly a mini air pump with a maximum pressure of 30PSI, and higher-pressure air pump equipment will also be introduced in the future. This pressure range is suitable for airbrushes that have a nozzle diameter of 0.5mm or less and can complete most work. However, if a nozzle with a diameter of 0.5mm or more, such as 0.8mm, it is recommended to choose an air pump with a maximum pressure of 45 psi or more, otherwise it may not be possible to perfectly achieve the function of the 0.8mm nozzle. Also, please make sure that the coating used is not viscous. If it is a very viscous spray material that cannot be thinned, such as viscous chocolate sauce, it is also necessary to choose an air pump with a pressure of 45 psi or more to ensure that there is enough pressure to push out the coating.

I bought the NCT-SJ81 shortly after seeing Barbatos Rex’s review on youtube. I was very surprised at just how good this airbrush is. It is not a $400 fine detail airbrush but it can do lines down to #2 pencil width and very fine dots when using the 0.2mm needle, nozzle and aircap and great for plastic model painting with the 0.3 and 0.5 setups. For me (and I’m not an airbrush professional) this airbrush works as well as airbrushes 3 times its price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice airbrush to get started without breaking the bank. It is also a good backup airbrush.
